petitRADTRANS (pRT) calculates transmission and emission spectra of exoplanets for clear and cloudy planets. It also incorporates an easy subpackage for running retrievals with nested sampling. It allows the calculation of emission or transmission spectra, at low or high resolution, clear or cloudy, and includes a retrieval module to fit a petitRADTRANS model to spectral data. pRT has two different opacity treatment modes. The low resolution mode runs calculations at λ/Δλ ≤ 1000 using the so-called correlated-k treatment for opacities. The high resolution mode runs calculations at λ/Δλ ≤ 10⁶, using a line-by-line opacity treatment.
